Where did you hear this? Nothing on their website.

Points will be deducted next season, if true...

This would have been good news, a month ago! I'm not so happy about it in general, I know it's dog eat dog at the bottom and all of that, but it's sad to see a club go into administration, whoever they are and however little I care about them.

Jeff Stelling won't be pleased.

Is there no chance they would be deducted points this season then?

My understanding is after the deadline the league chooses which season the deduction will apply to which, giving their current standing and as it is supposed to be a punishment, there is a good call for it this year.

As a football fan it is a real shame on a personnal level i f*****g hope they do!

I thought the rule was if losing ten point meant staying the same league they would be deferred into next season, but if the ten points had a bearing on relegation/promotion then they would be taken now, suggesting Hartlepool will be deducted ten points if indeed they have gone into administration?

I think it depends on whether or not it's a self inflicted wound, like Leeds in the champ a few years back. They were basically already relegated, so they went into admin to avoid it the next season, so the FA stepped in and changed the rules to stop that happening again. But Hartlepool aren't in the relegation zone, and haven't been all season if I'm right in saying that, so if they've gone into admin, they might not get punished this season. But the FA are ruthless bastards, so they might...

Somewhere over there...
I thought that if you go into Admin you get deducted 10 points, but if the team was to get relegated even without the 10 points taken off then the points deduction is taken over to the following season.

I heard them mention Darlington going into administration. You sure it wasn't that, plus some wishful thinking?

In Hartlepools case it would be better for them if the FL took the points now. They stand a fair chance of being relegated this season inany case and then start next season minus 10 points, but if they lose them now they will be relegated with the opportunity of winning promotion next season.

Yeah, that's what I think happens too. Unless they do a Southampton and exploit the loophole of having a holding company seemingly.
