Papers and TV will only report on disruption and voilence FACT.

the leicester game the other day wouldnt of got much coverage but because a fan got lamped it was everywhere.

I am not suggesting anything bad just explaining the reality of the situation.

Getting a match abandoned is the answer i think - well get points deducted - so what (in the big picture).

Or streakers at big SKY games.

singing and stuff like that wont do much externally.

The Sunday papers hardly ever report anything outside the premiership and Div 1. Don't be down-heartened. We've had some good Radio coverage. The VERY LAST thing we need is a negative publicity, which is certainly what would result from an abandoned match. Have a think about the type of publicity which is required - we need to demonstrate a NATIONAL INTEREST. Having a few hundred loonies invading the pitch at Luton or Grimsby would hardly do that. It would, instead, play right into the hands of the anti-falmer brigade - chief suspect, Mr Norman Baker, who would make lots of political capital, no doubt.

The flowers thing will catch the imagination, I'm sure. Plus, more is planned (or being planned).

I share your frustration, but relieve it by emailing/writing/phoning.

lets keep it good natured and vocal for the moment.

i am sure if, and it is still a big if, things go against us then things may take a turn the other way.

reports of pitch invasions wont help right now, but lets face it, it worked before.

I can't believe the Meridian match (or the Pompey love in) did'nt mention the demo or anything.

I have emailed them today in the hope the issue might get a mention on Monday's program.

Please do not go for pitch invasions etc. It will only play into the hands of the anti Falmer brigade and make it difficult for politicians to support us.

As for Meridian, don't be too harsh. They have to wrap that programme up very quickly and it was a "Football" highlight programme. Wait for Meridian News. That is what matters. No politician worries about a Football programme but he does worry about local news

We must keep it legal and safe but in desperate moments like these you tend to remember that direct action does often work - eg v's York City, crossbar incident that went around the world (even before mass internet usage). Man Ure fans got on national news by invading the race course and delaying a race.

Trouble is, invading the pitch is automatic arrest these days. So if you know any brave streakers.......

For the time being....let's keep it sane and sensible.

I'll be the first to do something a little more 'extreme' if it
goes against us.

but MU and Ferguson was already deemed national news.

I am hoping that the letter sof support will highlight to Prescott that a no decision to Falmer may effect electoral decisions in 3 SE marginals and unlease possible national annoyance at such a decision

It's a simple fact that all this hippy love ins , flowers , kissing babies , singing hymns won't mean a thing to the 'powers that be' or the media.
The only thing that really attracted the media in 1996 was when we got the York game stopped and then we could get the message across what we were fighting for.

Exactly Ernest.

Maybe for one game we all turn up for a Pub match at preston park coz that is only where ppl of Brighton will be able to watch footy if Falmer is rejected.

Dont worry about the anti falmer lot..

just dont invade the pitch...we can cope with points being docked...but we cant cope with an FA fine.

The Mail on Sunday found the space to mention that Tony Adams's wife was due to give birth, but nothing at all was said about the protest. The Observer ignored the match altogether.

Frustrating and predictable but I agree with what's been said -- let's not resort to stupidity just to get noticed. Let's win the argument.

I was disappointed that there was nothing about the match or the sit-in in Sky's 2nd Division coverage this morning. I remember them giving our cause a lot more attention in '96-97, but one Gary Stevens was a presenter for them then.

Totally agree Ernest. Hippy joan baez style protests dont count for jack.

IF the decison goes against , thats when it gets really serious

Shame this didn't all kick off before rather than after our Sky game with Plymouth.

How about a short occupation of the centre circle at Luton during half time? Make it clear that we will leave after 15 mins - although if we give notice I guess they'll make damn sure we can't do it.

Sad irony of who you were playing yesterday that, for all the supportive quotes from all and sundry, if Tony Adams had said something about Falmer, there would have been guaranteed a bit of coverage at least, what with all his media mates.
Not that I'm biased (well, I obviously am), but reluctantly reckon he's a decent bloke, having spoken with him and weighed up his career. Just he seems to automatically enjoy so much more coverage than any other 2nd Division club could ever dream of.

Plus, if the opposition manager mentions our cause it is simply more newsworthy - you'd expect everyone from Albion to be in favour.

How about a simultaneous streak at every league match on Valentine's Day?

'Falmer' on the left cheek, 'All' on the right cheek, and '4' just above the crack.

Nice idea in theory.

Haven't got the balls to streak myself!
