HampshireSeagulls said:Congrats. You can look forward to 22 years of disgraceful behaviour, phone calls from foreign places at 03:00 whilst drunk, pleas for money from abroad, phone calls from cells in dirty stinking hell holes (Gib is the worst one so far!), inappropriate tattoos, cars full of homeless sailors arriving on a Saturday morning for the weekend, and the dreaded day when he comes home and says that he met his future wife in the drinking holes of Portsmouth.
Shit, that was me.
Seriously, well done. Keep him at it, even when he thinks it's the worst choice he ever made. Tour the world, get medals, and get paid for it. And make sure you take out a BFPO subscription for the Argus....!

By the way,the Cells in Sardinia are by far the worse I have ever visited
Many thanks for all the good wishes and I will pass them on to him.

Did you never have the pleasure of Her Majesty's Hotel, Portsmouth Dockyard? Glass-topped walls a design feature, they even helped you give up smoking. And eating. And drinking. And after a while, even thinking. I never managed to work out a useful reason for (cold) ironing my clothes so that they would fit into a dustpan, but I daresay it will come to me one day....
They let me stay there for 28 days.....but I'm a reformed character now
