His last minute winner against Tranmere at the Goldstone in 1965 is one of the few goals from that era which I can still visualise. Wet and murky south stand end, corner from the right, towering header, hit the top of the table (Div 4) and stayed there.

In those days, for a 20 year old to leave home and come down south was a big deal. Thank you SNG for doing that and being a rock throughout the 60s that are still my favourite times supporting the club. A proper local working class community club.
