Interestingly, I think the best way Dick can now steady the ship is to tie-up Hammond's contract... recent events wil strengthen Dean's agent's hand in those negotiations...
also I would have thought that Dean H is in two minds now....it is obvious that DK's offer whatever that is , is the only offer on the table that Brighton will make ( that was the point I made recently about it being DickKnight and Hove Albion - ie it appears its not the managers job to offer contracts , its the chairman - does this happen everywhere?) and therefore it looks like there is no point hanging on umtil he gets a better offer as there isnt one.....is second choice is to refuse what is on offer and move, assuming anyone has actually showed an interest.
I assume he is on a Bosman at the end of the season?
Of all league clubs, I would hazard to guess that the Chairman of Brighton and Hove Albion knows the budget and bank-account purse-strings better than any. He would, by now, be only too aware of what Brighton can afford to spend on wages, and on bringing in new faces.
The fates that conspired to NOT agree terms with O'Callaghan - now seem to have looked kindly on the club, in retrospect. We did NOT seal a deal with a potential troublestirring mouthpiece, who would over-assume his own place in the scheme of all things Albion.
It's likely that the tribulations of player contracts are taken off the manager's table altogether, so he can get on with purely managing the football, the tactics, and team selection. No doubt he would have an opinion, no less than we do, on other going's on behind the scenes. I'm sure he liaises with DK about the employees, their attitudes, whether he thinks them worth bigger contract incentives etc, but the final word and decision must surely belong to Mr Knight.

I suspect that that's right, although Mr Banana on here will tell you that's not how it works at Brighton & Hove Albion.
