it's the qualifying today. It’s a sprint to establish who starts from where on the grid. You must of been seeing a re-run of another race.

I know it's qualifying - that's why I mentioned "Q3", and "out-lap". And yes, I know it's to establish who starts where.

Both. When he first came into F1 until he retied. He didn’t let anyone intimate him, so focused and so in control. Awesome driver.

Mansell was very good :)

But surely Lewis is following in his footsteps?

The post I have quoted of yours above relates to Lewis in that he doesn't let anyone intimidate him, he's focused and so in control.

He's an awesome driver and STILL a rookie :)

He is proving to be a bit of a star or is F1 very weak at present ?

I wouldn't say so at all, there are some very good drivers in F1 at the moment, it just turns out that the cream of the crop are driving for MacLaren and Ferrari, after the first couple of races it looked like this season could be a classic...then Ferrari went AWOL for a few races, now they are back again and the battle recommences. In all the years I have been interested in F1 I cannot remember a rookie who was anywhere near as good as Lewis Hamiltion, certainly not Michael Schumacher...he was a bit of a hot head early on, remember him colliding with Damon Hill in one race to deny him victory and his reaction after running into the back of Coulthard in Belgium...Hamilton is more ice cool than the coolest Finnish driver on a cold day in the Arctic.

Even if Hamilton wins the championship I still think Bob Nudd should be BBC sports personality of the year.

Not as good as Mansell. Mansell was more ruthless and didn’t care what the co driver thought. Mansell-Senna battles was bloody amazing. Edge of the seat stuff.

Best English driver this country has seen.
Hunt, Moss, Graham Hill, Stewart?

I'd rate Hunt, Moss and Stewart above Mansell. If Hamilton continues in this fashion he will surpass (sp?) them all.

Yesterday's Q3 was the most exciting quailfying session since the Prost, Mansell, Senna, Patrese era.

Jim Clark was the best British driver so far..imo. Mansell was the best to watch a complete nutter who used to go on red mist inspired rampages through the field and Hunt was two fingers to the establishment with Lord Hesketh's backing, very strange bedfellows but great days indeed and a very British atmosphere long since lost.

Hamilton has the potential to be be the best of the Brits and possibly better than Schumacher or Senna even

Good, imo that Hamilton has been pegged back and we now have a 4 way challenge for the world title. Would not be good for the long term of the sport if a rookie could come out and piss all over the others, as it looked might happen.
