Hamburg or Amsterdam

Visited both 20 plus years ago. Now middle-aged/married, which would be better for a short summer break.

Amsterdam is superb and I understand Hamburg is good as well.

Go for Amsterdam.

Went to both Hamburg and Amsterdam back in the 1978.

They were stop-off points for the Denmark V England game.

We ran 2 coaches, consisting of Albion fans, mostly lads from Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, Lancing and Worthing (the old South stand).

To be honest we stayed in the red light districts in both cities (As you do). Depending what you are after, I would have though Amsterdam would have more to offer.
