Living 'Up North' the Halifax Town saga has been covered well. However it appears that The Shaymen have folded and if they re-form it will be as a minor club. Yet just 6 years ago O'regan took them back into the 'league'

Stricken Halifax Town could be saved from liquidation by two separate groups, reports BBC Radio Leeds.

The original consortium are trying to reform Halifax, while the Supporters Trust are also now heavily involved.

Both parties are in contact with the FA and the Trust claim they have confirmation that Halifax will be in Unibond League 1 North next season.

The consortium are still paying the club's bills and have said more information will be available soon.

The Unibond's AGM next month is expected to rubber stamp Halifax's place in League 1 North.

The club, who went into administration during the season, were automatically relegated from the Blue Square Premier and the Blue Square North after creditors failed to accept a rescue package.

It was feared Halifax would go straight into liquidation and disappear from football altogether but the consortium's continued financial support looks likely to keep the 97-year-old club alive.

We had some good games against Halifax. One of my first games was watching us beat them 3-0.

Hard to feel sorry for them after I traveled all the way up there to have the game called off 30 minutes before kick off.

That was a midweek game we were just pulling into the car park and heard it on the radio about 7.00pm. Stopped had a beer and fish and chips and drove home again.

The annoying thing was had we heard a little earlier we could have stopped at Mansfield and watched them beat Cardiff. It was a mere three hours rain that waterlogged the pitch which would of been okay had not a junior rugby league match been played on it the night before.

Funny isnt it reading Penquin's quote, didnt more or less the same happen to Leeds and they suddenly came into cash to build a (almost) promotion winning team and losing their creditors

Yes, it was actually, it was because as I said, of course you were there weren't you ?

I was there and we made up for the disappointment by going into the Portman and Pickles pub, on the high street. They asked us to join their pub quiz, which we did and we absolutely walked it. Won loads of free beer vouchers and thought I best to share some of our new-found wealth with the locals.

And because of that you don't care if they go out of business!

And yes I was there, drinking in The Shay pub when we heard.
