Does the current malaise of the financial world mean we finally, finally
lose those effing annoying Halifax adverts which must have cost them
millions. oh joy!

I'd happily go through a thousand depression/recessions if it meant
we didn't see that sh*t and those knobstic*s on our tvs any more.

Thank you God! My prayers are answered.

:clap2:

Halifax is a massive employer that struggles to recruit in a (previously) competitive sector. These ads were originally created to do two jobs: tell the public about their product development and give the staff a lift. The featured staff heavily and all research has shown that Halifax staff were happier and more likely to stay in their jobs than other staff in comparable businesses. they were also more likely to recommend the job to others. In effect, it was cheap recruitment advertising.

Sadly, the powers that be didn't think to run the business in a sound manner, so now many of those "happy" people will be out of a job and will be thinking less well of their employer!

Whatever you think of Howard, the adverts have created a strong brand identity.

One of the few adverts where you could be in a different room, hear a few bars of the advert and know who it was for.

Like others have said it created a brand name that meant if you so just a picture of Howard then you knew it was for Halifax.

Halifax saved a fortune by not using actors for their adverts, the employees that have appeared in the adverts signed a waiver so they are not entitled to any repeat fees. I wonder if there will be a final advert from Halifax which should be called "Howards End":lolol:
