So we're half done, but are we half baked or in for the long run? I'm unsure if we can guarantee success, buying what we may in January ,unless we see a couple of proven Vincente type signings, very unlikely.

The essence of any squad is conjured in pre-season, and any magical spell woven therein is steadily being unravelled by the worst kind of injury laden devilry not witnessed since the dawn of history.

Do we rock or do well roll?

I say 'we ROCK!'

And your thoughts?

Great seeing the old Wizzard video dusted off for Christmas. Not sure if the lead singer would get away with picking up that small blonde girl and kissing her on the cheek nowadays though. (the absolute sauce of it)

Yep and I was gifted, for this very Christmas, a vintage 1976 Pioneer sa 7300 amp with which to rock it to the world!

ROCK!

Nice going Kosh. There is so much money to be made from a Christmas single, I've never understood why, as a band, you wouldn't incorporate a line about Christmas in what you suspect will in any case be a hit single to guarantee you a pension for life with the year on year royalties. Oasis for example with Wonderwall - "Today is going to be the (Christmas) day that they're gonna throw it back to you...'

We need two or three top notch signings who can get going early Jan or we could have a bit of a slump. Injuries taking a heavy toll on the team

Totally agree, top notch and proven quality/experience at this level or beyond. The risk associated with a budget busting raid of risky south american imports fills me full of trepidation tbh.

Shine on Kosh you crazy diamond x

For sure halfway home and far higher than we have any right to be considering we're piling injuries on top of injuries with the odd key suspension thrown in for good measure.

Infinitely better than this time last year when we'd just got shot of a fake manager WAY out of his depth and a set of pitiful losers who claimed the word 'striker' in their job title.

Don't really care where we end up this season, the squad have done us proud and that's all that matters.

Couldn't agree more Tom, I said to my dad the other day - 10ish more points and we're safe! I jest, naturally.

This is rapidly becoming a nsc legends only thread, this I like.

Happy Christmas one and all...

We have had a fabulous season so far but I fear we are going to have to settle for aiming for the playoffs. This is better than I could have dreamed of pre season but somehow very disappointing given where we have been for half the season. How hard am I to please..but Derby, Hull and Boro can all win convincingly, something we haven't done once this season. They all deserve to be above us on the way they close most games out and dominate the opposition. We seem content to draw or win narrowly. With a full strength team come the playoffs, we will be able to beat the other runners up on one off or two leg games I think.

Hope we can stay top six.

Yey - another one of the pre 03ers' LEGEND!

I agree, not hard to please but realistic, I do feel we'll have a strong finish and that could yet change everything.

Think the aim has to be third or fourth place, can't see beyond Derby and Middlesbrough.

Yet more reflective, considered realism... Better the above than fourth bottom! Anything above and beyond would be the sweetest iceing on our proverbial footballing cake.

Just got back and agree with that....We were shite today and Greer and dunk are not particularly good and VLP and Murphy offered nothing.
No service what's so ever for the strikers as I don't recall a decent chance of note today that sums up recent form.Playoffs is the best we'll get this season that I'm sure of :)
Really don't rate Greer or dunk and must say Bruno was really good today :)

Agree re Greer, now clearly in the winter of his career, he will not be missed come the spring.

We've got to roll with it...

We are half way and we are three points off the top. We can do this, we need our injured back, a couple of good signings and some luck.

It can be done

Indeed... The positive road does sound tempting. What with it's golden hue, crystal clear blue skies... Bikini clad women thumbing lifts on every corner, free beer, comedy ethnic stereotypes and police escorts for those flounting the law... I'm in.

Hang on... I've been watching too much of the cannon ball run II again... Great film, great days...

Half way..
3 points off the top with a severely depleted squad...
Some first team players to come back and be like new signings...
Uncle Tony going to splash the cash....
Remember Boro were beaten 3-0 by Hull. We drew away at Derby with only half a team....
Im up for the fight and Im sure the team are too.
