MELDRETH, CAMBS; ROYSTON, HERTS A lorry driver who shot dead a friend while testing a 'bullet-proof' vest was jailed for seven years today (fri). Philip Harper, 46, from Meldreth, Cambridgeshire, purchased the vest which he believed to be bullet-proof and urged local pub-goers to shoot him in the chest.
Shotgun owner Ian Catley, 40, who was accustomed to roving around fields and taking potshots at vermin, recklessly agreed to turn the gun on his friend. Survival enthusiast Mr Harper, was killed 'almost instantaneously' when the Catley shot him at a distance of less than 20 feet near Black Peak Farm, south of Melbourn. - See more at: http://courtnewsuk.co.uk/newsgallery/?public_id=39541#sthash.dTjhJ0za.dpuf
