Unless injured he should not have been subbed at HT.

I am sorry to say this but Lynch appears to be struggling and nearly made two dreadful errors.

If Butters was injured fair enough otherwise do not understand why he was taken off.

Perhaps this performance might give Lynch a bit more confidence though?

Yes, he made at least one major cock up, but on the other hand, neither cost us a goal this time, which might be the turning point for him. And he set up one goal and scored the winner.

His game seems to be so much in his head: I hope it gives him the boost he needs to get back to being the defender he was a year ago.

Besides, the Butters-Elphick combination hardly set the world on fire in the first half, did it? We allowed a player to run from the half way line to the edge of the box without a sniff of a challenge, resulting in an eminently preventable goal, and there were a couple of other extremely dicey moments, and were left thanking Kuipers or Cheltenham's shit finishing, for sparing them embarrassment.

The defence as a unit hasn't played well for weeks, be they Elphick, Butters, El Abd, Richards, Whing or Lynch. None of them are immune from criticism.

Bit of luck that Cheltenham changed to a more defensive approach.

Brooker was outmuscling Lynch every time. Fortunately though, he didn't see much of the ball and didn't cause too many problems at the end.

I was probably a wise tactical change, the Cheltenham forwards had lots of pace, and maybe because of this we had to play the first half with the defense deep to cover Butters lack of pace, meaning the forwards had too little support, the second half with a more mobile defense meant they moved alot further up the pitch and allowed us to play passes over shorter distances, with greater accuracy and success and as a result push Cheltenham further away from our goal, and give our forwards more support.

Some people will moan at anything. Lynch scores a goal and gets an assist and is described as struggling and dreadful. Weird.

I was at a different game, apart from a couple of absolute howlers early on I thought Lynch did well. Their 29 was a real handful though imo. I thought his pace is probably one of the reasons he came on but it seems Guy would not agree with that so what do I know, I'm not even close to being a professional footballer LOL

How soon is now?
Sorry Guy, but from where I was sitting we were just too slow at the back in the first half.... To be fair we didn't look much better at the back in the second half, but perhaps a little more mobile. The 5 man midfield looked messy and I don't think we really looked comfortable until Robinson came on and we went back to 4-4-2. Bowditch had a shocker on the left, he really looked lost. As for Cox getting man of the match, ha ha......He was annonymous for most of the second half. Either Kuipers who was solid throughout or Elphick would have got the nod from me

Abort, retry, fail
Yeah he did.

But at the back he nearly cost us a few as well!

I can only really recall that one moment, when he did some Zidane type flick and then opted to head the ball out from six yards. He seemed to scream at Richards, so perhaps he told him to get rid and took him too literally. That was squeaky bum time!

The only time I can remember was when they had that one-on-one and Kuipers pulled off a wonder save, I was worried he was going to hack the guy down when chasing after the ball.

Come on man, you know the rules for NSC ...

Butters - fat and slow.
mayo - sh*t
Kuipers - crap or brilliant, take your pick
DK - potless
Richards - crap
Fraser - crap
Wilkins - clueless

Where have you been ... don't you go to the games?:p

I thought Butters was playing ok but we needed to play higher up the pitch - something we are not as able to do with two slow centre backs in Butters and Lynch.

Butters had not done anything really wrong but had to be sacrificed to enable the defence to play a higher line.

We looked better after Lynch and Fraser came on so don't think you can really criticise Wilkins for the changes.

I of course meant Butters and Elphick in the first paragraph...
