We will be where we will be.
whatever, we’ll deal with it.
whatever, we’ll deal with it.
I know what you mean. Last season he was all positivity “we’re Brighton, we’ve got big balls, we’re pushing for a big target”. This season there seems to be a lot more negativity.I kind of hope he's going.
I've rapidly gone from 100%, all in, #TeamRoberto.
To 'enough now' 'thanks for the memories'.
I can't quite put my finger on why I've had such an out of character turn around, but I'm kind of done with Roberto now.
They don't quote the question he was asked, the context would probably ruin the story. I suspect he was just pushing away a question about whether he would be here next season, with a "I am thinking about this season, not where I might be next season." type answer.Italy are reporting De Zerbi as saying... “Let’s see if we can reach an important goal again, then next year whoever is here will think about how to improve on this season.”
Gazzetta: De Zerbi Likely to Leave Brighton This Summer - FootItalia.com
Reports from the Italian media indicate that Roberto De Zerbi may be poised to depart Brighton during the upcoming summer transfer window.www.footitalia.com
I think part of the problem has been that too many of his players, have been patients. If the king leaves, long live the king.
Of he hasn't got the patients to see things through then so be it. I would be surprised if he gets offer the big jobs he is looking for without a brilliant finish to the season. That finish may also persuade him to stay.
I guess we wait and see.
against us and Spurs they sit and break - what a revelation, however they struggle when someone does the same to them hence they went out the cup home to Newcastle, have an inferior GD us and sit 4 points below with a game more played. We have been worked out this season, last season the risky passes out of defence to a transitioned attack worked well. This season managers have wised up and quickly get back into a defensive shape when we have the ball hence why we are constantly trying to beat a low block when we get forward.
Watching Fulham against us and Spuds they are better from defence to attack than we are they don’t need 30 passes three or four at the most and they are on top of you.
Plus he lives in a flat.I don't think he would quit Brighton as he would then be put on gardening leave and would be forgotten about quickly, which is not in his interest.
Also.....I watch a lot of lower league football (any football in fact) and everyone is at it. You see teams in tier 3 pissing around at the back then attempting a devastating hard low pass to a marked man in the centre of the pitch. When it works it can pay massive dividends, which is why they try it.We have been worked out this season, last season the risky passes out of defence to a transitioned attack worked well. But, as you say, decent sides can easily mitigate against it.
I noticed a new trick yesterday (could have been Newcastle) of setting up to play the short goal kick, then the keeper simply taking a long one (none of the obvious change of plan, full backs sprinting upfield as the keeper waving them up while ostentatiously bouncing the ball and scanning the horizon). This swift legerdemain nearly caught out the oppos, and against a lesser side this may work very well. Tactics change all the time. It is what it is.
I do hope RDZ isn't a one tricky pony. Loath him or hate him, Potter did have the gift to change formation and tactics multiple times during a single game. Can't say I have seen that with RDZ. That said, I know absolutely nothing about football tactics.
Potters strength was tactical variation, but is changing the set up during a game frequently a sign that you got it wrong at the start frequently?Also.....I watch a lot of lower league football (any football in fact) and everyone is at it. I agree. I have read the alarming comments on here after his pressas, and then when I watch them myself all I see is our manager happy when we win and sad when we don't.I would be surprised if he left, I don't think he has shown enough to land a massive job, and I think comments from Barber around having a short list for who replaces De Zerbi and comments from De Zerbi that leave the door open are either just factually true answers to probing questions, or at worst part of contract extension negotiations.
You see stories about players saying they would one day like to play here or there, usually during contract negotiations with their current club. Clearly agents think it helps if the current employer is reminded that the employee has options.
De Zerbi at this point in his career, and Brighton at this level of development are quite a good match.
I reckon it's more likely he signs an improved and extended contract than leaves.
I am more than happy to suggest that Potter was willing to try new things and is a smart coach. But on reflection, at this level he may be a victim of the fact he draws out the bullying instincts in people. Once he has sucked his teeth, that's it for some. I can imagine some of the elite players here struggled on occasion with him. At Chelsea I suspect the players thought he was a bit of a wanka.Do not in any way suggest that Potter might have better tactical acumen than RDZ on NSC unless you want a roasting/to start a binfest
The big difference is we sold our midfield pivot who got the ball out wide quickly and many of our quick players have been injured or playing in winter tournaments. We have been worked out this season, last season the risky passes out of defence to a transitioned attack worked well. Wow. Chelsea, Liverpool, Barcelona? He will go if someone else comes in is my view. The change in demeanor since Jan and unsigned contract seems to give the game away.
In the cold light of day though, Championship Coventry have scored as many in one game against Wolves as we have against Wolves and the 5 other games either side of it. We are 13th in the league on form over the last 20 games. Who - other than Chelsea of course - will stump up 10 million quid to take him? Barca aren't flush with cash, Liverpool don't tend to shell unnecessary cash either and he'd be a tactical shift from Klopp. Unless Chelsea sack Poch, I don't see where he goes. If that results in a season of thinly veiled digs at TB following a shoeing at a shit team, that would be the worst outcome all round
Oh mate!Wow. Chelsea, Liverpool, Barcelona?
You really rate RDZ!
I'd say it has West Ham and Everton written all over it.
Staying.Let's give Roberto the tools to do the job re: squad size and let's smash it next year!
