Again, someone had to start the topic :moo:

Unconfirmed reports that Martin O'Neill has resigned as Sunderland manager as they lost 4-2 to West Brom today - not doing brilliantly either.

It is a myth that O'Neill is a decent manager, single handedly ruined Villa, now Sunderland - Gus wouldnt go there though

It astounds me that people wouldn't mind Gus leaving. After last Saturday, people were saying we are now looking class, after a draw against Bolton, we should sack the manager. And we are still in touching distance of the play offs....

No one in their right mind would take a managers job in Sunderland/Burnley/Bolton etc. It's like going back to the dark ages (literally!), and having to live up there as well. Oh my days!

This. A lot of fans really don't know how lucky we are to have Gus as manager. Our football is great to watch and the thought of another manager here changing that scares me. I hope he doesn't leave for a very, very long time.

its his selection policy that baffles me and lets him down as a manger.

Are you joking? O'Neill had his team sold from under his feet and wasn't allowed to strengthen! Its never going to be easy to recover when you have your entire midfield of Barry, Milner, Young and Downing (who was good at the time) sold with no proper replacements.

totally agree

wanted to spend without restraint at villa when they didnt have the money. Their problems since arre about not being able to afford to recover from the legacy he left.

It is a job Gus would possibly take if offered to him. Will it be? I doubt it to be honest.

Not sure about that. I think they finished 11th in his first year and them 6th for the next three seasons. Many clubs would love to be "ruined" with those results.

Would be very sad to see Gus go. He and Tony Bloom have a grand project and it's unfinished.

Turns out this was some bullcrap started by Talkshite, although O'Neill is under pressure as Sunderland arent doing brilliant of course.

So Gus will be staying, as he would of anyway - he wouldnt leave Sunny Brighton for Smoggy Sunderland.
