I wasn't at the game today, but looking at the team sheet, it looks like we for the umpteenth time only played on one wing today. When will Gus see that this produces no goals? Zero against Watford, zero against Birmingham. Our goals against Barnsley came from a free kick and a goal kick. He's expecting either too much of Noone on one wing, and/or too much of the striker covering the winger-less side.
I realise we have no Buckley or Vicente, but what about LuaLua? Or playing three up front? All of Mackail-Smith's goals (maybe with the exception of Pompey) have come from plays stemming from the wing.
It is evident that this one-wing philosophy just isn't working.
