Gus gently pissed-off in pre-Burnley press conference about stats

Right at the end of the conference, a question was asked about the stats of us being a dirty side with the bookings. We all know, we most certainly are not and Gus defended it well. Then he went on to say, why at the start of the season, when stats showed we made more passes than anyone else, he wasn't receiving plaudits about that. He's right... I know press question-time is better if it's negative but hell, let's give the guy a few accolades.. we love the football he plays.

Why praise the team for making lots of passes if 75% of them are between Greer, Dunk and Ankergren? The stats that show us as having a lot of yellow cards are as misleading as the number of passes. Stats need context and interpretation to mean anything.

This, I'm sure he forgets about thats one of the main reasons we have a high pass rate.

They certainly aren't between a midfielder and CMS

Maybe the interviewer should have highlighted the fact we have had around 6 shots on target in 4 hours of football.

Edit; I still love you Gus and back your way forward but you will get negative/true/false stats aimed in your direction!:sheep:

He needs to stop whinging and making excuses and f***ing sort it out. It really is shocking. FFS.
No wonder he wants to pull his hair out with comments like this. I recorded this season Liverpool, Leeds, West Ham matches at the Amex. Just watched them again, we were pretty damn good. We've got a mainly Div 1 team and in transition & not playing that well at the mo. We are still right up the league. Gus is honest... maybe too much but it is a pleasure to hear him speak and for him to receive comments like... "f***ing sort it out. It really is shocking. FFS"... are just out of order. These are great times... enjoy!

That's about as wise a post as I've read on NSC all year. Our passing stats are certainly not to be confused with a passing game. Maybe if those stats were split into passing movements that cross the halfway line and those that don't, the Emperor's New Clothes would be revealed.

Young lad asked him that all relavant enough he didn't get pissed off at all. I asked him about the resevre team players which he only gave a short answer to at first then eloborated on it for quite a while .He is very good at getting milage out of a question. Wait until you see Nooney's funny respone to a question I asked him about his highlight of the season.

Goodness me this is a thread full of "lump it forward" types isn't it?

We are 7th, aren't we? ....and going for our 4th home win on the bounce tomorrow?

Or am I missing something?

My thoughts entirely. It seems some people assumed we would dick this league the way we did the last one. Still, I imagine Micky Adams would jump at the chance to come back, perish the thought.
