Guitar Hero franchise nets a billion

NPD group has reported that American retail sales of Activision's popular Guitar Hero music simulator franchise have put it among the top-selling game franchises of all time, earning over $1 billion in 26 months. Activision has reported sales of 14 million units and 5 million additional song downloads since the title's initial release in 2005. The fiscal year of 2007 ended with the company posting $1.5 billion net revenues.

Several sources report that the Pokemon series, which consists of over 30 individual titles holds the position of "best-selling video game of all time." Other sources say the Mario Brothers series is the best-seller of all time, with a total sales figure somewhere in the neighborhood of 195 million units.

in our house(at uni) we downloaded the foo fighters add on songs the other day.(highly recommended)

luckily 3 of us have the game on our 360's so we are constantly playing this game through the night, until its time to leave for lectures!

currently trying to finish the last 3 songs on hard. The 'hard' difficulty on this game is about 3 times more difficult than on previous guitar hero versions, which is fun!

can manage about 3/4 of songs on expert but the solos are just to damn tricky for moi.

'Monkey Wrench' is great fun to play on hard. Foo Fighters are quality.

'all my life' on the downloadable content is great.

another FANTASTIC free download is 'we three kings' ROCK version. now that is fun on hard.

however there is just something about playing 'black magic woman' to a crowded room of drunk students, and managing to silence them with your musical prowess and sheer subtle emotion of the song, that moves me.

I can't beat Lou on Hard! That is all I am needing to do on my Hard career. I think I have done 30 odd tunes on Expert, albeit not very well! Online is as smooth as anything too.

I end up feeling really inadequate at these threads. I have all 3 GH's ( apart from the 80's one) and havent completed 1 song on hard!!!!!

i think i may have to write a letter to REQUEST that 'dont fear the reaper' is put onto the next guitar hero. It would be PURE PERFECTION.
