I'll be there tonight, provided I can get a ticket on the gate. Still can't decide whether to see Blondie or the Beta Band though!!

The Stranglers are a must see after last years superb performance.

i'm plumping for blondie as in my capacity as PERV with a camera, i'd rather shoot debbie harry than the beta band...

looking forward to the stranglers too.

whats the situation with bars staying open late and the such? is it advisable to bring your own booze? never done guildford before so answers would be most appreciated :jester:

Great big long beer tent open til 11.00pm (probably), they're pretty efficient at serving so you won't have to queue.

You will find that the music will finish dead on 11.00pm due to the terms of the licence, we missed out on Alice Cooper doing an encour last year because of this.

I wonder if Captain Sensible will do Happy Talking during the Damned's set.......

Really, that looks like the shittiest festival ever.

Well, it is in Guildford.... Certainly last years line-up was better - Alice Cooper, The Darkness (before they were famous), Madness, Skin, Aqualung, The Stranglers, The Undertones.....

I'll be wearing a beige hat with a Seagull on the front, so I'll stick out in the crowd....., not!! (and I'm ANDREW!!).

Just back in from Guilfest.

Not as good an opening night line-up as last year.

Speedway were a bit of a Texas clone.

The Damned were okay, but the only track I recognised was Nasty, and only because it was in an episode of The Young Ones.

The Stranglers put on another solid performance and livened the crowd up no end.

I caught a few Blondie tracks, and was pleased that they opened with Atomic, because that is my favourite track of theirs, before wandering up to the Uncut Stage to see a bit of the Beta Band before returning to see the end of the Blondie set. At least that was the plan.....

Once I heard the Beta Band's first track I couldn't drag myself away, as they put on an absolutely mesmeric performance, the band members swapping instruments on a regular basis and pulsing harmonies coming thick and fast..... Or maybe I just stayed because of the pleasing aroma hanging in the air!!

:lolol:
