You have to feel sorry for the old Gretna fans that were around way before the bandwagon jumpers. There club may cease to exist as it was a plaything for a rich man. Although the circumstances (illness?) are unfortunate, it seems that people do not learn from the Leeds model.

Whilst the players do get exceptionally well paid and know how to work the clubs, surely much of the blame must be levied at the owners of the football clubs, oh and Jimmy Hill.

What happened to the multi millionaire who owned Gretna and offered the use of his Lamborghini to Kenny Deuchar if he scored in a cup tie. Kenny Deauchar has now joined a club in the MLS in USA I think and that combined with his qualifications as a doctor should ensure he earns a fair packet.

I seriously feel sorry for Gretna, it was a fantastic achievement to get promoted three times in three seasons. Hopefully someone will come into save them.
