Second half freekick sheer panic when his route backwards was cut off. Does he realise that the rules do allow to pass forwards.

Exactly the ball forwards, too many times he doesn't even look forwards but on receiving the ball automatically turns round. Keeping the ball is one thing but not to even appreciate the movement of others in front of you is another.

One week he's criticised for playing misplaced longballs here, there and everywhere and the next week he's lambasted for not playing enough. I thought he was quality today. Has been for a few games now.

Have to agree 100% with this comment......would love to see him play like Ronald koeman.....but in the meantime he ticks the boxes for me

I also thought that he had a good game today, but he does always seems to turn round to look for a sideways or backwards ball, I actually think he is not too bad looking forward!

He had a solid game, end off. Yeah he took a little too long with a free kick but if your told by the gaffer to play the short ball and retain possession that's what your going to do, right??

Didn't stop me from telling him to punt it up the park though :D

Didn't say he played badly but sometimes he panics if the outlet is blocked backwards, there was an instance in the first half he attempted to pass through one of their players so to be able to get it back. A pass forwards was the easy option.

For the 3rd game running i saw him leap for a header and win it!

Maybe he's realised he's got to earn his contact renewal?

Either way, a joy to watch!

Could we also apply that to, I don't tackle and can't pass forward Hammond, he shouldn't wear orange boots, it shows his lack of everything even more!

Perhaps they're orange because they're a trip hazard!!

Cant believe that I have just read that. I thought today he gave a perfect demonstration of how poor he is in the air and possibly won 1 header in the whole game. I think that he is very good on the ground with his passing but equally poor in the air for a man of his height.

And what would we gain by hoofing the ball upfield with no one to win it?? We're trying to protect the lead which is much easier when we have possession of the ball. Rather than making it a 50:50 battle, which probably isn't even that with Barnes up against 2 centre backs. Totally against Poyet's philosophy of keeping possession=other team can't score.

Greer's very important too us currently for his ball control. Important that we have someone who can play passes rather than the limited range such as El-Abd, as we've seen this season when teams have marked specifically so El-Abd has to make the pass out of defence. Greer isn't the best defender by far, and some of these posts are correct as it shows he's not as good in the air as he should be, plus he's not quick and even Sammon highlighted that today. However I think his attributes on the ball are just as important as these to us.

I fear for him if we get Swansea in the Cup, having seen how they scored at Chelsea.
