I worked in Milwaulkee for a while & the Yanks were forever saying how much they liked my accent - the local Maccy D's wouldn't give me my scran until I'd chatted to them.

"your accent is so coo-al..........what part of London do you come from?"

"Manchester",I would reply.

"Oh that is so coo-al........."

I lost count of the amount of times I had this conversation in supermarkets.
