Daley Thompson?
Celtic first U.K. euro winners?
I’m sure there are loads of examples better than the bbc list, but hey, it’s all about opinions.
Needs a poll but the list would be endless!

There you have it.

I used to be infuriated by This Sort of Thing.

However, opinions are simply that. One can engage with a discussion to perhaps evolve an opinion that best reflects the average opinion (i.e., a list that fewer people disagree with).

Or we can jog on. Before I do so....of course I'll offer some suggestions (has to be beating foreigners in elite sport, none of that Leicester City bollocks):

Forest's back to back European cup wins
Lewis Hamilton's achievements
That rower bloke with the multiple golds (who I find personally obnoxious)
Emma
Botham come back wins (albeit that was more plucky than anything)
Daley Thompson
Bannister
Lions of Lisbon

I go unashamedly modern (apart from the 4 minute mile, and that's mostly sentiment) because the farther back you go the more weedy and amateur all sports people were. Nobody wants that.

Finally, yes, the BBC list is bollocks. That isn't opinion. It's fact.

Red Rum, ok fine.
The BBC intern is going to be relieved you have stepped up to take the flak Brovion .

Edit; Red Rum is Irish. Have I been whooshed ?

Red Rum is a sodding horse.

This is why I can’t stand the BBC , they can’t even make a list of greatest British triumphs without making it into a PC list

:lolol:

'The BBC'

That's why I hate NSC - they can't even criticise a list without making ludicrous sweeping generalisations.

I would also go with Forest back to back European Cups to be added

I see what they mean about the ashes though…that was just a brilliant summer of cricket and one that a lot of mates who didn’t like cricket were glued to.

I would also go for Dessie winning the Gold Cup…..awesome horse
