That's the one about all the crashes and deaths, with J Stewart campaigning for better safety - Got it's critics, but had me glued throughout. Quite sad with the Brit driver trying to pull out another driver who burnt to death..

Watched this earlier in the year - fascinating programme althoughhighly disturbing pictures of people being burned alive while the races carried on around them. Shows how exciting yet dangerous F1 used to be. It's repeated in the early hours for anyone who missed it and wants to record it later.

It is fascinating but sad as you say, the first big crash i can properly remember is Niki Lauda who was lucky to get away with his life.

many,many tragic occassions in the sport

tom pryce hitting and killing a marshall at kyalami,who was carrying a fire exstinguisher that in turn killed pryce instantly,then his car carrying on,like some sort of ghost car

i love motor sport with a passion,but even the very best,jim clark,gilles villeneuve and ayrton senna paid the ultimate price

jackie stewart did an awful lot for the safety of the sport,sadly in his last race,his team mate,the very talented francois cevert was killed at watkins glen

David Purley trying to save Roger Williamson I think. Tragic times indeed. I once heard a brilliant quote by Murray Walker not long after Ayrton was killed
" the drivers wouldn't take part if they knew they'd die obviously, but the passion is worth the risk "

I'm surprised they didn't show it as that one highlighted the ineptness of race marshals. The footage is certainly available and can be seen on youtube and certainly highlights what happens when a car traveling at great speeds hits a person.

Seem to recall a LEC F5000 car at the Brighton Speed Trials in the late 70's being driven by David Purley - think he was from the Bognor area.
The closinging line, 1976 saw no deaths in F1, first for a few years. Quite poignient.

One of the most horrific videos I've ever seen. Haven't seen it in a while, but is one of those things you never forget seeing.
