If he thinks it is making things difficult for the players, do you think he wants fans to keep doing it?
Challenging. Playing in the Premier League is also challenging, doesnt mean he wants or expects the team to stop doing it.

Sportsmen generally are sensitive souls though, which is what this is about, especially when in a period of self-doubt or devoid of confidence. A golfer can inexplicably get the yips. One minute standing over putts believing they cannot miss, next minute they can barely move their arms with the hole seeming like the most unlikely destination for their ball.
So our players are undoubtedly riddled with self doubt at present in front of goal. We can all see it. We can discuss ad-infinitum the reasons for it, but nevertheless it's there. So while 'shoot' doesn't even register most of the time, in a time of goal scoring crisis, when your instincts are shot, you're passing when you should shoot, shooting when you should pass - hearing cries of 'shoot' probably in that moment makes it more difficult - because it has already become that way. I think this is all Potter was saying.
Like I didn't need Maupay to clap me back as he walked passed Saturday, I take no offense at what Potter has said either. It made sense to me at least, but then I don't have the knives out for him, so I guess I wouldn't jump on it.
Some folk seem happy to see three home wins a season it’s all relevant I suppose.
You think he wants us to keep doing it?

I dont think he wants you to keep doing it and I dont think he wants you to stop.
He's been working in professional football for 30 years, he knows fans are going to make noises and it can sometimes be challenging, opponents are going to try to take the ball and sometimes it can be challenging, refs can make bad decisions and sometimes it can be challenging. It doesnt mean he wants or urges any of that to stop, it is just him telling it like it is.
No.
I'm not sure what that clears up. The article/thread title still is a completely made up quote/comment.
Is there really such a massive difference between "graham potter doesn't want fans to chant shoot" and "graham potter tells fans not to shout shoot" that it completely invalidates the article?

BS. You know the only reason he brought it up is because he would prefer fans not to shout it.

Again, thankfully for you, he doesn't say ANY of those either.
PLEASE read the article. Honestly, give it a go.

I find it strange that for a team that's managed by a masters in leadership and emotional intelligence that they seem to have drifted into lacking leadership and be emotional fragile.
If the "science" has been used on them it seems to have had the opposite effect.
Agree with all that apart from the bit about Sportsmen being sensitive souls. I think they have to be a lot less sensitive than the rest of us to get where they are. I get nervous taking the winning penalty in a shoot-out with my 8 year old, I don't think I'd be much good with 30,000 people screaming conflicting instructions to me.
How do you know that if he didn't say it? You, like the headline of the article, like me, are inferring from what he did say. A very reasonable inference (though admittedly the original headline ws much more clickbaity in it's presentation of that inference).
Anyone found the part of the article where GP "tells" people to "stop shouting shoot" as the thread title states?
The headline of the article originally said EXACTLY that. So the fault lies with the newspaper, not the thread starter. The headline of the article has now been changed from what it originally said. Presumably somebody at the club had a word
You think he wants us to keep doing it?
This thread is incredible. How is it still going?
The cult of Potter members still clinging on and finding fault with everyone from the paper to the supporters to back their man.
It is simple. Are we bad at scoring? Yes. Were comments by Potter about the crowd being unhelpful blown out of proportion by the headling writer? A bit, yes. Should he have said anything negative about a crowd who have put up with his dismal home form for nearly 3 years? No. Will this whole issue go away when we actually remember how to find the net again? Yes.
Give it a break.
