I thought the penguin was thrown out by his parents into the river in a cot as he was deformed and got raised by penguins in the sewers, as seen in the second Batman film? Why has he got five fingers all of a sudden and is not in a sewer!? This is confusing me.

I think it is just a different take on the batman series. In the film they use the parents who get rid of him but in the comics the gang get rid of him. (Don't hold me to it)

A good warm up episode... the next makes or break it for me. Gordon is excellent casting and spent the whole episode pausing and googling all the faces I recognised. Batman is the "Autistic" boy from Touch - didn't recognise him without the curly hair!

I'm going to give it a watch but I'm not too sure how its going to work overall. You've got a lot of Batman's greatest foes showing up in this show and, presumably, being handled by Gotham's police force. If they can do that then why is Batman necessary?

Reputedly the original Gotham village was somewhere outside Bexhill, the inhabitants all feigned madness in the Middle ages to avoid being taxed.

For those that are still watching and are geeky about Batman, it feels like I'm missing out of stuff.

I'm enjoying the series, or to be more precise I'm enjoying Penguin.
Catwoman is currently Catgirl & The Riddler is the scene of crime investigator, but that's about it.

Are there any other main characters appearing that I've not noticed?

I can't believe I would have missed The Joker.
