At the cricket on Tuesday, there was a guy with a trumpet who played Sussex by the Sea, and people sung in time with him. Was pretty good. Better than what the Brighton fans come up with in the stands

What Brighton fans come up with in the stands is a bastardisation of the song written by Norman Wisdom - as you know , a great Albion fan and one time director I think - and published in the programme for the game against Chesterfield in circa 1965.It had great lines like "Hove,by Jove that's us" and more memorable ones like "We're going up and we'll win the cup.......".

Traditional GOSBTS it wasn't.

I think his name could be Dumbrell a traditional old Brighton name a bit like Boniface.
