Has anyone on here done it?

Thinking about it for part of my honeymoon next year. Any tips / recommendations?

I've been to Uganda twice, in 1993 and 2006, and its a great country - although rapid population growth is causing the cities to become very crowded.

I did the gorilla hike in 1993, its great - you need to be fit as the mountains are very steep, and its not cheap - but a true once in a lifetime experience.

Combine it with a safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park, or seeing the chimps in Kibale, or even get a ferry over Lake Victoria to Mwanza in Tanzania for a luxury safari in the Serengeti.

Commander - did you book anything in the end?

Looking to do a gorilla trip as well in a few months time. Not really sure what the differences are in doing it in Rwanda or Uganda or which companies to go for. Anymore recommendations?

Yeah I did. Going in September next year, cant wait! Went with Uganda in the end and am going to Queen Elizabeth National Park and to see the Chimps in the Kibale forest.

I looked at a few companies but went with this one in the end Luxury Safari Holidays | African Safaris & Honeymoons by Mahlatini
and they were really helpful. Cant really comment on if they are any good or not until afterwards though.

Firstly - apologies Commander - I didn't see the original thread when this was posted last year.

I did exactly this for my honeymoon in 2010. The gorilla trekking in Uganda was an incredible experience - one we'll never forget.

If anyone is looking to book something now, I'd really recommend getting in touch with African Jungles Safaris. They are quite a small outfit but we found them to be really competitive on price (was basically the same cost for a private tour as others were charging for a group tour) and their service was honestly the best I've ever come across.

We did Murchison Falls National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kibale (for the chimps which was again very cool) and then Bwindi for the gorillas.

Would recommend Uganda to anyone - one of the most beautiful countries I've ever visited. In terms of the National Parks, you don't get the volume of game that Kenya/Tanzania etc. offer but it is far less crowded and it will tend to just be you with whatever animals you're looking at whereas in Kenya, it will be you and 20 other buses.

If you want any more info, feel free to pm me.
