Lots of references in the Scottish press to a certain fanzine.

And Smith Did Score!
Scottish edition of the Metro had an article on Gary Stevens supporting Smith's appointment, having "played with him at Brighton" ... and then published a picture of the ex-Rangers and Everton Mr Stevens!! Doh! :dunce: :lolol:

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
Smith immediately got his introduction to the contentious politics of Scottish football when he was asked about the perception that he did not believe that Rangers should have been fined by Uefa because their fans sang sectarian songs during a Uefa Cup tie against Osasuna in Pamplona.

"There have been a lot of things said about my attitude but I stood up at a Rangers Trust meeting and said they were right to ban the two sectarian songs in question - but I did say we have to be careful about what we define as offensive," said Smith.

"If we start arresting everybody who might be considered offensive we would have half our crowds in jail. I thought Uefa were right to punish Rangers and I made that clear, but certain people don't seem to think that I did.

"I am not a bigot in any respect. All my family and friends - that includes the Celtic-supporting friends - know that. People talk about me having Rangers' interests at heart. I have Scottish football's interests at heart. I was four years at Brighton and three years at Rangers, but do people think I'm here to represent Brighton?"http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtml?xml=/sport/2007/06/02/sfnrod02.xml

Now we have got a ringer in place can we apply to join the Scottish Premier League? We might even win it given the overall standard of Scottish football :D

I may be losing it but I definitely didn't think that Smith was here for anywhere near 4 years

First game against Wolves August 1980. Last game away at Derby in March/April 1984. Nearly 4 years.
