Scotland may hold a referendum before 2012 on becoming independent from the rest of Great Britain. Politics affects football too.

I am certain that is what I typed, although I do tend to look at the keyboard as opposed to the screen (Olympic, not 'olmpic'). Too much vino and still relatively early. Tomorrow shall be a struggle.

Agree that Football should not be considered at all however i find Boxing alright. I am a massive tennis fan and a coach/player but even i despise the thought of it being played at the Olympics.

The Olympics are the thin end of the wedge as FIFA want GB to enter a team in the World Cup not England Scotland Wales and Ireland independantly plus at the moment they each have a vote but wouldnt as GB or UK. Well done the jocks we will all benefit from their decision.

Although I think they olympic council here weren't intending to enter one anyway...

Football shouldn't be anywhere near the games. There is already a massive World event and all it will do (especially in this country) is that all the limelight off the other sports.
That's what's the games are good for. They give coverage to our real world class stars, most of which very few people have heard of.
There is already pressure behind the scenes from other European nations, who would like us to has a GB team.
This will suit their needs. It will inevitably be full of English players and they'll be two less votes at the table who usually vote as one.

lets see now, why would the Scots agree to a GB football team when it would consist of a token couple of Scots and Welsh in the squad who might get an ocassional run out?
