Glass Case of EMOTION
I have just read his autobiography having thoroughly enjoyed his TV series "Kitchen Nightmares" and "The F Word" i thought I would give it a go.

The guy is amazing, this is a fact. Everything that he writes about and has happened to him in his life already are extraodinary and I take my hat off to him.

Granted he is very abusive, or seems that way in the TV series but after reading this book, you can see where he gets this agression from. Many people do not like him, others (including me) love his straight forward way of thinking.

The guy is a legend. FACT. also book was defo worth a read.

You might recognise this bloke from the first series of Hells Kitchen

I used to always wait for the tube for him at the same place on the platform, but I read in the newspapers that he fell off the balcony of his flat and was in a coma.

Months later he re-appeared at Stockwell Station one morning and I approached him and asked him how he was. He was suprised that anyone had read it, but I explained that I recognised him from the television and often stood next to him there.

I had a long chat with him on the tube and he was just off to America to film a new series of Hells Kitchen. He loved working for Ramsey.

He's got dents in his forehead from some surgical procedure following his fall

He was telling me that he got home drunk and lost his keys. He decided to climb up to to the balcony of his flat a few floors up, lost his footing and doesn't remember anything expect waking up in hospital.

That's one of the things about Ramsay: for all his 'bullying' persona, he inspires an incredible amount of loyalty. A lot of his staff have been with him for years, especially impressive when you consider the high staff turnover in catering.

I have a lot of time for Ramsay, despite his views on veggies. He's more than just a talented chef, he's been involved in some of the best food programmes on British telly. If anyone can kick the British public up the collective arse to get cooking again, it's him.

I am sure that Gordons' view on veggies is much the same as the rest of us, they are best eaten either steamed or raw, never boil them so long that all the flavour and goodness is lost.

He's a great chef of that there's no doubt, personality wise I think a lot of what you see is for publicity as he always comes across well in interviews. Bark clearly much worse than his bite.

Yep comes across as a top bloke certainly, but i don't buy into the Jamie bashing.
I've had him chef-fing (sp?) on Sainsbury's exhibition stands before, and he's been helpful, friendly towards staff, chitty chatty, and a bloody nice bloke too - same for Jules. PA was clearly a pain in the proverbial..!

Between them, i think they've done wonders for getting food (good wholesome food like veg etc) back to being COOL for kids, and that is a difficult but good thing.

I think that's fair enough too. I also have a lot of time for Jamie Oliver (although I am a bit tired of the Sainsbury's ads).

It's not fair to compare him to Ramsay either. GR is one of the top 50 chefs in the world, possibly in the top 20. Oliver is not in the top 20 in Britain, and possibly not in the top 50. He doesn't pretend to be a great chef: he's a good one who has the communication knack.

In fairness too, he's only generally abusive with people who deserve it! Some little scrote who thinks they're going to be the next Marco-Pierre White, but can't be arsed to scrub the floor properly, etc.

Outside of pressure situations he seems a good bloke. He was calm as you like on Jonathon Woss the other night, despite Woss giving him a good-natured wind-up or two.

I like Ramsay, as I do most celebrity chefs, they all have a TV persona though, in some cases a much beefed up version of them in reality - like Alan Sugar to a certain extent...good on them - making money out of something they love doing!

Big fan of Ramsey. I watch 'The F Word' although I don't think it's his best work. I preferred the Kitchen Nightmares one where he attempted to turn around places that were struggling.

He interviewed really well on Ross on Friday night I thought, and was surprisingly softly spoken.

IMHO You can get better and much cheaper food in provincial restaurants throughout Italy, France and Belgium than you can in GR'S place.

Gordon Ramsay's eponymous restaurant is at 24 in the world's top 50 restaurants, according to Restaurant magazine. He also two or three 3-star Michelin restaurants.

I didn't say anything about cheaper, I said better

Used to deal with his wife at Amex Black Card, him on occasion. Both VERY polite.

Most of the card holders were wankers like Patsy Kensit and Jo seuakly Pasqualy or whaterer that knobs called and other jumped up z-listers and arrogant city types.

Now, I agree on that.

Is it Ramsay who calls him the squashed Bee Gee?
