The Priory but according to the TV guide it was owned by T im an ex IT consultant so it must be quite old as to the best of my knowledge it is owned by Compass Inns a company owned by Trevor Baker who also owns amongst others The Tudor in South Ferring.

mmmm The Tudor Close, the last time I was there I had a lump of Venison with a port & red currant sauce, fan-bloody-tastic.

It was filmed in the summer, around mid-July or maybe August as I remember the smoking ban was in effect at the time. It did change hands earlier this year but whether that was just the management or the owner as well I couldn't tell you.

If that is the case Trevor has probably sold it as the last tiome I went in there was early this year.

I do not think that it offered VFM as the prices were too high and the only time that I have eaten there was when there was a buy one get one for £1 offer in The Advertiser.

I enquired about a Sunday Lunch for 20 people for last Sunday, wifes 60th birthday, and was quoted £23.50 per adult and £12.50 per child. I asked at The Fox & Hounds 3 weeks ago about the same booking and was told the manager would ring me he did whilst I was watching BHA vs Carlisle for the next day.

However, all turned out well because one of my sons suggested The Farmers at Scaynes Hill and I cannot praise them enough, the food was excellent at £8.95 for a single roast or £9.95 for a 2 meat mixed. The total bill for 10 adults 6 children all having 2 course and a couple having tea and coffee and coca cola was £175.00 excellent value and I would highly reccomend it.

I have not ever eaten in there, as I agree it is too expensive but I do pop in for a drink every now and then.

The Farmers used to be the nearest pub to me, I lived about thirty seconds away from it before moving to Haywards Heath though again I only used to drink there rather than eat. However the same people are running the Golden Eagle and are now doing (or will shortly be doing) food so I may see what they have on offer there.

Did the Tudor Close in Ferring used to have big bands on once a month on a Sunday night? Back in the 80's I would guess. I'm sure there was a pub over that way that was like a Barn - the big band were brilliant.

Last time I ate there was about 15 years ago and the food looked exactly the same tonight as it did then. Carveries are so 80's (90's tops) Ramsey is so right when it comes to restaurants, like him or not. Mid Sussex is full of tight pensioners like my parents who because of people like this joker think everywhere they go is expensive just because it costs £20 for a starter and a main.
