Not sure if this has bneen done before, if so I apologise now. It is my birthday on Tuesday and want to go for a steak with my wife either to a pub or restaurant but as mother is in St Barnabas Hospice it has has to be in or very near to Worthing because of visiting her until latish in the evening. Any help or suggestions would be welcome. Price is not the biggest criteria but it must represent VFM.

Not a pub but McMillans is on the corner of the road with the Post Office/Connaught theatre on (I forget the name, sorry) and it does an unreal steak - looks like a bit of a shithole from the outside and not a huge amount better inside lol, but the quality of the steaks is superb, and they go up to a 40oz if you can stomach it.

Depends what you want really, but what used to be the Yeomans pub in Palatine road are pretty good with steak, I've never had a bad one and its always cooked to my requirements, not sure they go bigger than 8oz though.

Ooh - I think I know the place. Is that the one that used to be a bar for a bit? If so, I have a really crap celebrity spot in there. That bloke who played Pete Beale in Eastenders - he used to collect the glasses in there. Well, he did when I went there for the one and only time. Unless he was being a right pikey and topping up his beer from the dregs.

We all visited my mum last Sunday being her birthday and then 8 of us went to the Yeoman about 5pm and there was a sign outside saying sorry no food today what was that all about, did they run out of food or have kitchen problems. Every time I have been there they have run out of steak or something else so I comnplained to their head office and received £40 of vouchers to use other branches. More people should do that then the standard and efficiency would improve.

Somebody told me about a place opposite the old police station is that McMillans

It is. Be aware, when it first opened it was like finding a gem of a restaurant, the food was magnificent, especially the steaks, which were delivered to the table still sizzling. IMO about a year ago the quality seemed to go down and the interior started to match the shabbiness of the exterior. I gave up on it when we went in to eat one night & my shoes were sticking to the carpet.
I sincerely hope that he has pulled it around since then because it was great to have such a good restaurant in Worthing.

We tried the Caraboa Thai Steak House in Warwick Street the other week. Would definately recommend it. Quite unique in that you can have a top notch steak and homemade chips etc or a quality Thai meal off of the same menu ???

Amazing T-Bone steak, best I've had in years

But was a bit shocked at the prices tho - not cheap!
