I have a feeling today will be a crap news day

But in Tony Bloom we trust…

I’m sure if GP goes Mr Bloom will be ready …

Get a new man in soon there is a 3 week break coming up to work with the squad.

And put a ban on Chelsea buying any squad members for 3 years.

Not really looking forward to trips to Anfield and Man City so much now.

Keep the faith.

All managers move on eventually, but the timing is unhelpful . Hopefully with the substantial compensation the club is due that will help a bit . The club will have people in mind & I expect an appointment will be made sometime next week .

I agree, it's been nagging me since the news broke. It was so quick and at no point has there been any indication that anyone from the club has spoken to Potter. Photo's being taken with the team (a complete sham) to hot footing it up to London, verbal agreement and final agreement today, yet no countenance from Brighton. All sounds like this was done sometime ago. If that's the case it just leaves a bad taste.

I suggest you put your tin foil away. There's these things called mobiles and even video conferencing which mean the initial request and agreements could be completed in minutes. How long do you think it would take Chelsea to phone TB and ask if they can speak to GP, for TB to say yes but be aware we will expect compensation and then for TB to have a brief meeting with GP about it ?

Bruno caretaker while we carry out due diligence? Don’t know if he has the badges yet but he should have by now. It’s the way lots of clubs operate but this is Albion so will probably be different.

Someone may have already made this point, but our record of appointing managers is pretty good isn't it? Hyypia being the only recent exception.

Poyet was a success.
Garcia did fine.
Hyypia - not good
Hughton was a success
Potter was a success
?? - even better?

Tin foil? What are you on about. Saying this was probably already set up before yesterday morning.

I have a good friend who has been a lifelong Bournemouth fan who has been told yesterday that his cancer treatment has failed and basically he has weeks if not days left.

Puts it into perspective really.

I’m even not that sure if I want us to win on Saturday, cos it would cheer my mate up a bit to see a Bournemouth win.

Truss as PM, energy bill almost doubling, Potter off to Chelsea (bloody Chelsea FFS!) This week's going so well! Can;t wait for it to end, probably with a limp implsion at Bournemouth on Saturday. What else can go wrong? .................. what's Putin up to today?

Thank you for the memories, Graham. Massive wins against the biggest clubs in the world, highest ever league position, etc. Positive, polite and professional always. You will be missed.

This is a very unusual situation for the Albion during my supporting years as we normally are the ones getting rid of a manager. I can only think of three occasions when a manager has left when another club have come in for them. Mickey Adams to Leicester and Brian Horton to Port Vale and Coppell to Reading. Certainly we've never had a 'big' club come sniffing which, as frustrating as it is, shows how far we have come.

Of the others:-

Mullery - left on a point of principle.
Bailey - Sacked as unpopular style of play
Melia - Comedy character sacked
Catlin - Sacked for signing Fashanu
Mullery - Sacked for poor performance
Lloyd - Resigned
Brady - Left after disagreeing with the running of the club
Case - Sacked when bottom of the league
Gritt - Saved the club but then sacked following season
Horton - Left to help out his boyhood club
Wood - sacked for poor performance
Adams - Left to be assistant at Leicester
Taylor - Walked away despite promotion (probably didn't like Withdean)
Coppell - Walked and went to Reading
McGhee - Sacked
Wilkins - Sacked
Adams - Sacked (never go back as they say)
Slade - Sacked
Poyet - Sacked
Garcia - Resigned
Hyypia - Resigned
Hughton - Sacked

Trying to put myself in Potters position over this and I feel the decision will come down to his impression of the Chelsea leadership,

Disagree. It will come down to the multiples by which Chelsea will increase his salary. Simple as that.

This has all far been too quick, clean and smooth. I’m already convinced Tony knew this was coming way before Tuchel was sacked…….given the amount of business we’ve been doing with Chelsea wouldn’t be a surprise to find out that the owners had been speaking.

I just reckon there are good lines of communication, and that Chelsea have made their approach in the right way, i.e. agreed to the compensation figure, and asked permission before discussing anything with Potter. After that it is in everyones interests to resolve it quickly.
