Hopefully the weather will be ok. A Fulham mate of mine years ago got up there, pitch clear due to undersoil heating, but the game was off coz the old bill said it was a bitt too slippy outside around the ground.
I would go abso-f***ing-lootley bonkers if they pulled that one after driving up from the coast.

I've been to the ground a few times, and it's like an ice rink round there with only the lightest rain. I remember one subway/tunnel in particular where I fell over about 4 times. It's also really cold in Middlesborough all the time.

As for drinking, there's a lovely pub called Doctor Browns near the ground - it's a real ale pub (local brews mainly), and does a decent range of food too. They're fine with away fans. It's on Corporation Road, near a retail park.
