Numbers aside, there are a few reasons that come to mind for the club to speak of its debts in such a total fashion...One main reason is that supporters are continually baying for money to spend for players and stating the enormity of the debt usually shuts a few people up. But that in itself can backfire as exactly as whats happened here, ie shock and horror at the enormity of the debt without a true understanding of the numbers.

I can see the interest from supporters as to the numbers, but probably and more controversially I don't see the point to having them disected to the nth degree. Sadly they get twisted and turned and people end up chasing after certain directors as they see them as making a buck off the club, which if course anyone investing money would want....if not in the immediate future then at some time down the line. Not really any of our busines IMHO...

On the Albion's finances, I remember Martin Perry saying "how do you make a small fortune out of a football club? Answer - Invest a large one" and that still holds true for teams like Brighton. We've been on borrowed time for so long because of the stadium situation, we're lucky we've not folded. I too just can't understand why certain people can't understand this basic dependency and connect the two.

On Yorkie and DTG:
I think you both spend way too much time on here than's probably healthy (look at your post counts) and consequently the law of averages says you'll fall out! Email misses 90% of signals we as humans generate when communicating. Hence what you say isn't necessarily what you mean. But sadly, that's the preferred method these days and you obviously get some pleasure out of annoying each other in a public domain or you wouldn't hang your dirty washing out (it's ok to admit, we all do it!). Sometimes it can be funny on NSC, other times cringe-worthy. But often just plain boring when two people just go on and on and on whilst the rest of us are page-downing to find the next comment relevant to the thread's title and all we can see is hand-bags at dawn.
