Because really it is the British national anthem and not Englands. Wales will be having something by Max Boyce played if they ever win anything and Scotland will have something by The Proclaimers. I always thought (and still do as it happens) that Land Of Hope And Glory should be the anthem played before England games and if it was we would be unbeatable.

This time we seem to be using Jerusalem for English gold medal ceremonies, I personally prefer Land Of Hope And Glory (which has been used in the past) to either that or GSTQ.

Aoarantly there was a public vote back in June and Jerusalem came top with around 50% with Hope and Glory and GSTQ coming in 2nd and 3rd.

What is patriotic about saving a queen, had we lost the last war they would be living in luxury in some neutral country, while we take the can. We need a new patriotic anthem about our country.

The Commonwealth Games isn't a competition between member states of the United Nations. It's a get together of athletes, only some of whom are pretending to "represent" somewhere or other. In reality, most of them are in it for the personal achievement.
And good luck to them, I say.
If a bloke from Jersey happens to win an obscure shooting competition, I'll be pleased for him to have the medal presented to the tune of a Val Doonican song of his choice.

I also forgot to add that only about 2000 people voted, so thats around a thousand people deciding on an anthem for the nation!
Big mistake changing it if you ask me!

The Queen is the Head of the Commonwealth.
Member countries therefore need a different anthem,
GOSBTS would be a partial fit,though we (England) could perhaps adopt the Luxembourg national anthem.
