are Mormons particularly agressive bunch? I dont think it makes much difference, no nation is going to start nuking anyone in reality. if you do, you lose.

Why, because you think it gives the best chance of Obana being re-elected?

Or do you want him to win so that the USA can bomb Iran, ban Abortion (including in rape cases) stem cell research, same sex marriages?

Except of course if it is his wife having an abortion in order to save her life.

Incidentally, I think his campaign may just have imploded in spectactular fashion.

Until I moved to the States I never took much interest in their politics. Now that I live here I do as it affects me. Is this really the best the GOP can come up with. You wouldn’t trust these people to run a whelk stall let alone the US. How some of them even got on the list in the first place is unbelievable.

Rick Perry and Michele Bachman do a splendid job of representing the evangelical loonies; Perry was the one who organised a pray-in in Texas asking for rain during a drought and Bachman was personally approached by God to run.

As other posters have said Romney will most probably win the nomination. I think Obama is sitting in the White House, keeping quiet and watching the GOP tear itself apart with a bunch of weak, flawed candidates fighting each other to prove who is the most conservative and radical. The Romney nomination will work in his favour as it will split the evangelical vote and hopefully get Obama re-elected for a second term. I thought Herman Cain, who dropped out, was a reasonable alternative to Romney. He was a self made millionaire businessman who came over well (even if he got a bit confused about his taxation strategy). Even if you didn’t like his politics you couldn’t help but like the guy.

One of my colleagues at work is a Republican and says most reasonable people here in the U.S. don't support the extreme religious and political views the Republican party has come to represent and it amuses him every time one of these crack-pots drops out of the race.
