I did the moors valley one at ringwood too:thumbsup:

It was a fantastic day, I loved it, I didn't think it was challenging enough, but saying that heights don't really bother me as long as I know there is no chance of falling to my death, which there isn't at a go ape centre, they are very safe otherwise they wouldn't get their operating license.

My girlfriend though, who is scared of heights, found it terrifying, which I in turn found rather funny:clap2:

I took some video clips on our camera of her which she didn't enjoy, she is unstable on her feet when pissed and regularly gets called Bambi in the wet or snow and her lack of balance and strength showed, at one point she turns to the camera and says in a hushed voice "if you don't turn that camera off I am going to kill you", I didn't. Got some quality videos of her less that elegant landings at the end of the zip wires, which she deleted before I could get copies:nono:

I thoroughly recommend it, its a great day out.:clap2:

Have done Alice Holt and Leeds Castle sites. Been about four times, which should tell you how much we like it in this house. A lot of fun. Leeds Castle has the longer zipwires which is what most people really seem to want.

Absolutely fantastic fun. I am shit scared of heights and frankly being 6'4" freaks me out BUT the safety talk before hand kind of puts you at ease and the equipment is first class so inspires confidence. Give it a try because now for me it's a must do if I'm anywhere near one. Still shit scared of heights though! Just realised what a rambling, non-sensical reply this has turned in to.....D'oh!

Well, I lived. Which is about the best I can say. I finished the course, the instructor was amazed after my performance at the first stage which was barely off the ground. Glad I finished it, but never do it again. Seriously got to me at more than point, there is something exciting about doing something which terrifies you but everyone has their limit. I passed mine today, vertigo isn't a comedy condition and should be treated with respect!

Ultimately though, I can say I finished it all and only lost it on one obstacle. Nearly didn't do the first zip line, but I did so I am proud. Possible video tomorrow...

Well done mate. Though you're right about not being a comedy condition, it's not a fear of heights.

Well done mate. Though you're right about not being a comedy condition, it's not a fear of heights.

Thanks. I know, it is a "chemical imbalance in the brain". It was explained to me as being more about perception than height. As my left eye is much weaker than my right, it causes a few problems. Spacial awareness for example. I don't think my mates fully understood the term vertigo before today. They would have gained a real sense of how it affects people just by watching my struggle today. The "nothing scares me" guy nearly bottled out of the swing into the big cargo net at the end, took him 5 minutes to compose himself. All this time I was desperate for him to get a shift on, I was behind him and standing on that platform for so long did nobody any favours... On the plus side, I got a hug from a girl who works there, she said "I've never seen anyone look so petrified the whole way but still finish". More than happy with that, fair play to her for giving me a crumb of comfort at the end.
