Not overrated at all

Superb interface which works entirely under Mozilla Firefox as well as IE (Hotmail doesn't work 100% under Firefox).

Huge amount of storage

No intrusive huge graphical ads

Very good "conversations" system for threading conversations, even between other people on a mailing list (great for the Seagulls list, etc)

Great Bayesian spam filter (works on content of the average spam vs. the average real mail)

exactly- i have seen the light

I leave Firefox open on a tab in Firefox all the time, it works just like an IMAP client, I get mail virtually instantly (sub 1 minute after its been sent I see the (1) or whatever beside the work Inbox)

Hotmail doesn't do that
