Mary Poppins will always be one of my favourite movies of all time, and her performance in it has always gone under the radar compared to Dick Van Dyke, Julie Andrews and David Tomlinson.

Well done, Sister Suffragette!

My favourite film of hers was 'Halfway House' when she appeared with her real-life father, Mervyn Johns, as a ghostly father and daughter running a remote hotel. It was an Ealing Studios wartime film. (Also had a teenage Sally Ann Howes who went on to play Truly Scrumptious in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang).

Great career. RIP.

I hadn’t realised until now that her father was the great Mervyn Johns.
Yes, watching Scrooge at Christmas and seeing Mervyn Johns with Hermione Baddeley as the Cratchits prompted a great potential quiz question about another well-known film. 😀

She had a fantastic voice, instantly recognisable ... and 100 is a great innings.
