I am sure that those loyal fans who follow the Albion on a regular basis but could`nt get tickets for West Ham will be delighted to hear this snippet of conversation I overheard at Upton Park:

PA Announcer announces the arrival of Sam Rents as substitute in the second half
Bloke in front of me: "Rents ?Whos he?".

Yeah, there was a bit of an "England friendly against the Faroe Islands" atmosphere at times yesterday, but we got it going every now and then.

Reminds me of when I went to Hove for a 20/20 game last year.

PA Announcer : "Bowling from the Cromwell Road end, Yasir Arafat"
TWATS in front of me : "hohoho, what an unfortunate name!"

That was nothing.

there was a bloke behind me with a couple of kids and his mate, and he was the only one who had ever seen the Albion play. His mate and kids kept going on about Chelsea and I asked them at half time if they had seen albion before and they said " No, we normally go to Chelsea but we had free tickets for this"

These things happen. We will need them all to fill or even get close to filling Falmer.

I was a glory supporter for the day. Non-STH that attends nearly every home game, but maximum two away games a season. Although I was in the home end.

Don`t put your self down - I would`nt class someone who goes to that many games as a glory hunter.

It's a complete waste of time having a go at people attending the match. If you can get tickets, you will - and surely it's a good thing people do want to go who don't usually come. It's up to the club to make sure it's fair, and regular supporters don't miss out.

Personally, I'm in the AMS but hardly ever go these days as I work Sats and some weekday evenings. I go when I can, eg Bournemouth on NYD, but couldn't go to West Ham. But what am I going to do - cancel my AMS membership?

However, I can quite see that someone in my position has far less of a right to tickets for something like West Ham at the moment. I'd like to think I'd still deserve a ticket for somewhere like Cardiff with 28,000, as there have been seasons in the past where I've been to 40 matches and/or had a ST.

But there must be a lot of people in my situation in the AMS who couldn't believe their luck at the West Ham allocation. You can't blame them, but some should maybe have been made to sweat it out for a general sale after STHs and those with, say, five away ticket stubs this season or something.

too many women and kids there for it to be decent atmosphere.

Quite often at Withdean the Family Stand has the best atmosphere...and God forbid women or children go to football matches, eh?

says a lot then !

didnt make myself clear , the women and kids dotted around me clearly were more concerned with eating their sandwiches which they kept pulling out from somewhere, didnt know the players and were generally damp squibs.

There is no room for women or kids in football these days is there.

Mrs Hut starts her 10-match ST from Saturday to join me Junior and Mini.........

Gloryhunters following the Albion?
Blimey, I like the sound of that. You mean, some people think "Hmm, I want to go see some glory, I know I'll watch Brighton."

Marvellous scenes, i hope there are plenty more glorious opportunities for them all to come back very soon.

You are not a Glory Hunter BOF . You go to games.

We were sat next to a Man City supporter and his son.

As someone has already said it's not the fans fault the club sold them tickets. It's the clubs, 100%!

Well, full credit for the dad to try and get his son supporting us then!

Excellent news. We need to draw these kids away from the likes of Chelsea. Much better to give them a taste of a big away game the Withdean IMHO.

Mind you I'm not sure a 3-0 drubbing helps :(

Totally agree. I think it's great that we can get non-Albion Sussex people to come along and support us - and they're not going to start by going away to Carlisle away are they? If we'd put in a better performance then the youngsters might be pleading with Dad to take them more often.

More so-called 'Gloryhunters', and less STHs at big games in future please.

(Note to DtG - we're not agreeing much today are we? :lolol: )
