An absolute gem. I was fifteen at the time and just wore the record out at my buddies house at 69 Carlyle Strreet in Brighton.

Anybody else remember the Glenn Miller mini-revival in the mid-Seventies? Loads of Home Counties poseurs in US GI uniforms and their girls in wartime frilly skirts, pretending that Little Brown Jug was and always had been their music of choice. Two-page features in The Sun and all the rest of it. Mercifully punk came along and blew that shit RIGHT out of the water earlydoors :clap2:

I really like the whole "big band" genre. I used to play trumpet in a band, and my dad used to listen to little else than James Last when I was kid.

I've actually been to see James Last and Sid Lawrence in concert. Splendid stuff indeed.

Oh dear, I have always thought of James Last as a musical rapist.

Oh god no. Theres a DJ in my local who still thinks that Jive Bunny are "modern and relevant". I think he just does it to clear the dancefloor to be honest.

Ironically, he DJs with his son. Theres a possibility they ARE Jive Bunny then, although his son looks about 15 and wasn't alive when the songs came out...

Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong or the Daddy of that era Tommy Dorsey

I just bought Ella Fitzgerald - Gold. It is truly excellent and if there is ever a voice that is as smooth as silk, its hers.
