Glandular Fever

I think I have all the symptoms of glandular fever; headache, terrible sore throat (and single swelling in back of my mouth), aching limbs and general fatigue.

Do the great and good of NSC know what the best treatments are and how long it's likely to last? I've been taking ibuprofen, but it doesn't relieve the pain in my throat for long.

Sounds more like a throat infection to me. Get yourself down to the doctor!

Glandular fever is more swelling of the glands, usually all over your body - neck, armpits, groin etc and is detectable by a blood test. Get yourself down to the doctor!

It's the uncertainty of just not knowing the the date of the next Albion league match. If affects many of us but will pass in time, usually after 4 weeks of suffering. Chin up

I've had GF mate and it SUCKS!!
Whether you have it or not take Max Strength ASPRO CLEAR.
Mix it up gargle then swallow (no jokes please)
It's the only thing I could find for pain relief.
Get well soon!

If that was the case, surely I'd be suffering less than most with the nearby PSF at Dorchester to look forward to.

That sounds plausible, but would it account for my aching limbs and fatigue?

Why are you on here discussing it? Get to the doctors NOW.

I said NOW.

You shouldn't have carried on to read this sentence.

I had GF and it wiped out my summer! It proper knocked me out and I could barely get out of bed! Also took me ages to get back to full fitness, often needing afternoon naps etc! Hope it isn't for your sake

There is a really nasty flu around at the moment. My daughter has just been off school for nearly 2 weeks. Same symptoms as you describe. Aching limbs, sore throat, general tiredness etc etc. It knocked her for 6. Doctors said hes been inundated with people at the surgery with similar, but as its a flu virus not a lot they can do, just paracetamol/nurofen and rest. Im surprised there hasnt been one of those huge media mad flu scares.

Get to it.

ther one thing i found helped me with GF was soluble solphadiene. take 2 with water and it definitely helps with the pain of swallowing. Sleep, sleep and more sleep. NO Alcohol at all for a few months at least!!! This is vital.

I was mis diagnosed and told I had this, it turned out I had acid reflux that was burning my throat and making my glands swell, I lived with it for about 3 months and it got me really down, went to see another doctor who asked me if I get heartburn, when I said sometimes said she though I had an infection in my stomach that caused the reflux, 2 days later after antibiotics kicked in it had gone always worth getting decent advice

Yep. That's my excuse for not bothering the quack.
