Giving up the booze

Having some kind of infection, I'm forced to stay away from any alcohol whatsoever - as I know it'll set me back. The trouble is, most soda-type drinks are loaded with sugar or corn-syrup which isn't much good either.

However, every pub has cranberry, orange, pineapple, and tomato juices (or 'bloody mary mix'). Therefore one doesn't have to completely shut down the social life and watch telly - just take more care about what you chuck down your throat.

It depends what your social life is like. I gave up for a few months this year, but then realised all my friends and most of my past times included being in a pub.

It's more about will power. I gave up for three months but still went out to pubs with my mates. If you have coke or orange juice, to many it will just look like you're drinking shorts & mixers (JD & coke etc).

It'll save you a few quid - not least because you can drive home to save on cab fares.

Beware though - there is a downside. All those soft drinks seem to go through the bladder even quicker than beer:lolol:

don't be dude, put ALL the money you save in a jar or something, it won't take long before your over the moon at how much your saving and how better your feel. Yur sense of smell and will come back and your get BIGGER erections as ell to BOOT

I started drinking more when I gave up smoking, ironically. But it's so true that your sense of smell / taste comes back when the baccy's gone!

giving up the booze is easy mate. If you want to then you can just do it. You know how much I like a beer but have cut out the drink for 6 months without actually missing it. will probably give up in the new year for a few months depending on when the operation is. Good luck with cutting it out mate although like I said before not having a drink is easy as long as you are not an alcoholic.

Am not an alcy yet, but fear if I carry on as I am, I could end up as one.

I think I am possibly an alcoholic then!

I stopped drinking for a few weeks once, and then then got so fed up with it I gave in.

Fortunately there are a couple of nights left in December to make the most of. I'm off to find that elusive can of Shiraz
