I have just recently started, infact only given it twice up until now, but was amazed the people that go along. I know they are still screaming out for more people to go along and you could do a lot worse than spare 30 minutes of your time 3 or 4 times a year.

Having a couple of people close to me needing a blood transfusion in the past 2 years I thought it was a nice way to do a favour for someone else.

Does anyone else on here give blood?

I don't, but I have seriously considered it. And  to all the people that have/do.

Life savers.

I do. My old school librarian got an award for all the blod she'd given over her life, and one of my friends at school got run over and needed a blood transfusion, so I've always kinda wanted to do it, but was not aware of any easy to attend donation places.

On a whim I went to one out hove town hall after work. I recently got my blue card having attended my fifth donation in early november. Two of my friends have since started giving blood. One had to miss a donation because of low iron and then had to wait 6 months, but I believe she started up again as soon as she could.

I'm not very good at small talk, so don't enjoy that part of the donation.

I'm also amused by the question about whether you've accepted sex in place of money or payment for drugs. Are there a lot of socially conscious pimps and dealers out there?

Give blood, people! The National Blood Service - do something amazing give Blood

Yeah I know what you mean. I have paid for sex emotionally, but that doesn't count luckily.

I lost someone close to Cancer and they needed a few transfusions whilst trying to fight it, I just hope one day my blood goes to someone who doesn't die and survives that cruel illness

You can't see a problem with why Frutos's not allowed (i.e. you think he should be) or you don't see a problem with preventing Frutos from sharing his blood?

I can't see why he can't give blood.I know he is gay but if he is clean then why not?

I'm not being funny but i cannot see the problem with that.

What exactly can you not see the problem with (btw, the reason why I can't isn't entirely what I think you think it is)?

Read above.

The over-riding reason why I can't is because I had a collapsed lung 3 years ago, and as part of the treatment I received a fair few blood transfusions.

As a result of having received blood I am not permitted to give it, regardless of my sexuality.

So you have recieved blood but never given it? Would they allow you to give blood if they know your gay? Or would they see it as a risk? I don't know.I suppose the same applies to drug users?

Correct, I've received blood but never given it.

The fact of my being gay and sexually active would, I believe, prohibit me anyways, in spite of the fact that I know for a stone-cold fact I'm 'clean'.
