I'm assuming that this must be a 'song' and so I am ruling out loads of jazz...

I'm not. Given the stuff that the likes of Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman etc. did with saxophones, it would seem insulting to go with the same old bit of screeching from a Hazel o'Connor single. As a nod towards the middle ground, I'll eschew the free jazz and go for a personal favourite on a fairly well known tune: Paul Desmond's solo on The Dave Brubeck Quartet's 'Blue Rondo a la Turk'. His playing is faultless throughout, but the two minute solo that gradually sneaks in at the end of the second minute of the tune is such a change from the previous frantic pace that it feels like sinking into a warm bath at the end of a stressful rush hour journey.

This was the first thing I thought of. A sublime piece of pop. with delicious sax all over it. I will post the classic 80s 12 inch single version. With apologies to Tom Hark Preston Park who has 80s antibodies

Two minutes 55 is where the solo from outer space comes in to land.

This would also be a great entry for singer who looks nothing like she sounds

I'm going to go for All Night Long by The Mary Jane Girls for two reasons:

1) The solo is at the END, meaning that if you don't like 80s sax or you're, say a DJ mixing into the next tune, you can skip it. And
2) I've always thought of the instrumental part at the end as them actually doing the do. So this is a sax as sex.

Fela was not a sax genius, but he was absolutely a music genius. Having said that, his (?) sax solo in this is really nice: extended, and has quite a long section where it plays over a beautiful riff from the rest of the horn section. And lets face it - it is the incredible, fanfare like horn riff that really stands out on this stunning song. That, and Tony Allen's skittering beat. I won't get in to the message of the song, apart from to say that the era of water wars are here, and it's not going to be pretty.

Have you listened to much from Lagbaja at all? I saw Lagbaja live at Hyde Park years ago. Also saw one of Fela's sons, Femi, live at WOMAD too.

I love this track. I'm still discovering Fela and Tony Allen (and every new track I find seems to be a delight) but this has been on some of my Spotify playlists for a good, long time. Great shout.

I can not play the sax so probably don’t appreciate the skill level involved and apologise, Stato in particular, as my winner won’t meet with your approval I’m afraid - and I love Clarence with Springsteen too!!! If only someone had suggested Born To Run!

Thanks. Ok. A bit easier this time. I want your favourite song with a repetitive lyric or title. The lyric must be repeated at least 3 times.

For example. la la la
