My only comment on this thread is that I am shocked that a Jewish person cannot walk around being obviously Jewish without having to fear for their safety in 21st Century Britain. It is very sad and worrying. I despair for the future with all this unsolicited hate

Nothing to do with what the thread is highlighting about the demonstration, just the more widespread problem.
I live in North London in and around massive Jewish communities. Every weekend when I get on the tube in the morning I take an awkward glance around when I see Jewish families and Palestine protesters in the same carriage, no one is getting threatened though. And it's safe to walk the streets with a kippah on.

On the other hand I really cannot see what the policeman has done wrong (apart from threatening arrest) obviously it's a pretty stupid thing to do walking next to a protest as an openly Jewish person. It only takes one idiot to do something stupid or rile other people up. As others on this thread have said , there would be no outrage if the police did this against footy fans! It's just common sense policing.

As for the protests. About half the protesters seem to be tarquins, looney lefties or students who have no clue what is going on in Israel. Some of the stuff on social media where these protesters have been questioned about what is going on and clearly have no idea is hilarious. I'm not for banning peaceful protests (like the French have) but can't they move these marches away from central London? They are causing a nuisance , literally every weekend, and, no disrespect but they are achieving very little apart from inconveniencing normal Londoners going to work and going about their business at weekends.

I am not sure that is what most are saying.

Having watched the full 13min exchange that sky have published, I do think his actions (not what he was wearing nor where he alleges he had left) are the problem here. He tried to cross a march a number of times. The officer initially was very calm. Eventually frustration gets the better of him and he makes a crass and inappropriate comment about being obviously jewish. He is clearly wrong to do so.

Falter had a film crew and bodyguards with him as well as others in his group and was attempting to provoke a reaction.

At one point he grabs at the police officer as he tries to bundle past him walking down the middle of the road into a march. He could have been arrested for assaulting an officer as well as behaviour likely to cause a breach of the peace.
Wow on the last 2 paragraphs. How the hell is there all this controversy when the guy is clearly a trouble maker?

Falter has a track record. He has appeared as a witness in several antisemitism cases with the veracity of his evidence called into question

Is a former chair of Conservative friends of Israel and also a board member of the Jewish national fund UK.

The main JNF is accused of funding illegal settlements in west bank. The UK arm faces accusations of funding the Israeli arm

This was a set up piece and the spin has gained traction before the full story got its trousers on. The officer made a crass stupid comment after quite a period of frustrating exchange.

Gods country fortnightly
Suella Braverman is screeching for the resignation of the police commissioner. This in turn is feeding the narrative of no go areas in London to attack Sadiq Khan.
Tories as usual trying to whip of division and try and exploit the situation. Amazing the way they've whipped this into a media frenzy...

She was asked multiple times on radio 4 this morning if she had seen the full 13minute video. Her response was (paraphrasing here) that she hadn't and she had seen all she needed to say

I haven’t followed the story particularly but given there’s footage of him trying to barge through a police line why wasn’t he arrested as any of us would have been for trying to do the same?

Playing devil's advocate here if he wasn't wearing a kippah he could have crossed that road , in fact I crossed that very road through the protests last weekend. So not sure it's arrestable , but again the police have done the right thing here, maybe in hindsight to shut him up they could have escorted him through the crowd and then told him politely to f off once he had crossed.

They tried to take him to a designated crossing point. He refused.

But he is a known antagonist. Far from me to defend the Met, but this copper is doing his best against an antagonist, not a man crossing the road as the BBC and Sunak would like us to think
Appears to me as if the Police Officer was just trying to act to prevent the chap from being put into a possible unnecessary confrontation .
If he had been allowed to walk through the protest and been assaulted then he would most likely also be expressing dissatisfaction with the way the Police handled the situation .

Look what happened when Portsmouth fans attempt to disrupt a Palestinian protest on Saturday , should the Police have intervened earlier there ?

I really can't see what this has to do with the subject of the thread but there does seem to be a common thread running through the news feeds you read and constantly post links to on NSC Turning Point UK ???

Your post prompted me to find the video and watch it, and I am in full agreement.

It struck me that the policeman was calm and polite but firm with it. All of which you'd expect. And, from that video alone, it's difficult not to agree that Falter was being disingenuous with his claim of "just wanting to cross the road", as became clear when he was offered an alternative route to his intended destination.

It certainly looks like Falter was looking for a reaction and ultimately got one by pushing and pushing and pushing. I feel for the on-the-street policemen and women doing a very difficult job, with people out there actively trying to trip them up, and the whole world videoing on their phones so any mis-step can immediately be shared with the attempt at obtaining mass outrage.

Of course, Falter is quite correct that Jewish people should be able to move freely about London, and other parts of the UK, safely and without fear, but what he was doing has absolutely nothing to do with that.

Could you explain what you mean by this please?
“ the reality is that 4,000 year old stereotypes have not lasted this long without foundation”
That statement is as racist as anything Bushy ever posted.
But then Well quick Woody is a committed Antisemite

the man is being antagonistic. police are controlling this march as they do any other, they stop random people cross the road where ever. should police let anyone march without any control, they can sit in a van and only respond if there's a problem?
Rosa Parks was being antagonistic to make her point too. Being quiet & compliant doesn't work with racism

Which again makes the point that a visibly Jewish person is unsafe during a 'peaceful' protest. A point also made by the the nauseating chants the crowd directed at him - for being visibly Jewish

It would be the same if an openly Palestine supporter turned up shouting at a Jewish march or a palace fan stood up in the Brighton end.

Get over it !

My question watching this and the extended version of the london march, is why ANYONE (whatever their cause) is allowed to march or demonstrate shouting ‘scum’ at people whilst having their faces covered?
