I would be on the streets if it were down to the state.

No you wouldn't.

He didn't say life on benefits was fantastic (and nor is it designed to be). He said there was a decent SAFETY net, which there is. If you need somewhere to live, you'll get it. If you need medical attention, you'll get that. Can't afford to feed your kids? the state will feed them, whilst they are at their (free) school.

You really do just adore whining, and seeing the absolute worst in every possible situation.

Life is shit. Blah blah f***ing blah.

But still you cant tell me why? London has so much going for it. Fantastic bars and restaurants, incredible history, amazing architecture, fashion, theatre, music, sport, in fact it has just about everything you could ask for in a city. It's the most diverse city on the planet and is at the forefront of everything. I don't see how anyone can deny this.

How many people from all over the world flock to Rome, Paris, Madrid etc to live, compared to London? Nothing like as many. The only city in the world that can rival it is New York, and I haven't spent enough time there to compare them fairly.

If London was in another country, you would think differently about it.

Well said. London is a tremenduous city.

And this is exactly my point. And thank God life on benefits isn't fantastic, or I for one would punch my boss in the face and walk out the door now, never to return.

Go and see somewhere without a safety net, US. Go to India. Then come back and tell me how bad you have it.

Just noticed this, can't believe what I'm reading.

London coming second after New York in recent time out poll The worlds greatest city? - Time Out Travel

Coming in second again after New York The 40 Best Cities On Earth - Business Insider

Ridiculous, isn't it? You could make a case for New York being better. I suppose you could make a case for Paris, but in my opinion it is nowhere near as good as London. Hong Kong I suppose, but again, London is far more diverse and has loads more going on. No other European capital is anywhere near. San Francisco? Never been there so cant comment. Sydney? No way.

So quite who these other 100 cities are that are better, I'm not sure.

I would say pretty much every single major european country capital city is better than london, certainly paris, rome, madrid. Paris in particular knocks London out of the arena.

Are you completely ignorant?.... these 'trophy' cities have poverty, crime and slums the like we haven't seen in London for generations, and don't give me any fabricated untruths about how inferior our welfare state is either, it is the envy of a lot of those nations you hold up as examples of perfect systems....

I can't find a postable image but this thread reminds me very much of the classic WW1 cartoon with the caption "If you knows of a better 'ole, go to it".

I love France and I am afraid to say it knocks us into a cocked hat. All the French people I have met have been great. Certainly an English person in France will get a much better reception than vice versa. Let's have a look at some facts. Leave Newhaven, a f***ing dump and arrive at Le Havre with its magnficent promenade and buildings.

Everything is France is stylish, even the f***ing street lamps. Within 20 miles of arriving in Le Havre crossed 2 bridges of such magnificent beauty it pissed on anything this side of the sea.

The food is better, the cheese is better, the wine is better, the weather is better, the way of life is better, the culture is better and the people are nicer, who show respect. I am not a big fan of England and think this country generally is in as bad a state socially it has ever been. The countryside is glorious, thats about it.

Agree with your sentiments about France generally, but you must have visited a different part of Le Havre to me- when I went it was drab, miserable and soulless, no character about it at all. Certainly wouldn't describe it as beautiful!

The very fact of having clean running water, free available health care and a roof over your head puts you in the richest 5% in the world.

There was a post recently about some Albion supporters travelling to the Ukraine for the Championship, finding a bar that had a shooting range.....

As the first or second post after commented... Booze, England fans and guns, what could possibly go wrong ..

haha

I'm struggling to think of the worst country ive been to in europe. Done Norway, Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Luxembourg, Germany, Belgium and Holland.

All have their good and bad points. Top of my list would be the Scandic nations. Lovely clean cities. Worst on my experience probably Estonia.

Did I ask for your opinion ? No, as it is of absolutely no worth to me as I simply don't give a damn what you think or my comments. Your a like an annoying Bluebottle thats files around being annoying and for what point ? Is that clear enough or should I elaborate a bit more ? I have made no personal address to you or anyone come to that so the fact a " moderator ", how did you get that gig ?! feels free to maee personal and derogatory insults is quite odd and I actually laugh now when I see the same old trolls joining in, and you call me Sad. Hilarious. Is there any chance you could ban yourself for trolling ?
