Bizarre. According to the papers today he will be captain vs Switzerland. :glare: He's lucky to even be in the squad!

I would imagine that 99.9% of those that voted for Gerrard were either unemployed Liverpudlians that had plenty of time to vote, delete cookies, vote and those with no knowledge of football whatsoever. Having said that, I can't think of a single player that deserves a prize for being outstanding. I think it would have been wiser to award this prize to all those fans that travelled far and wide, spent hundreds of pounds with little or no reward.

I detest these ego massaging awards anyway.

I never ceases to amaze me how blinkered some fans can be. At the Croatia game a bloke behind me did not stop licking Lampards arse all game and even agreed with the decision to give him man of the match (which for the majority of people watching was the only indication he had even been on the pitch)

They were all shit last year with the exception of Micah Richards who was one of the few rays of sunshine on an otherwise dissapointing international year with England

Yeh it is bizarre having one of the best players in the world in the squad
1. Even when in form Gerrard is NOT one of the best players in the world.
2. He's not in form. He's miles out of form in fact.

Good post. The FA really should have recognised some of the fans that travelled everywhere.

Micah Richards IMO.

Obviously this was posted BEFORE any of you Micah-fans might have seen MOTD - where he was involved in every Arsenal goal..... by not being in the right place to stop any of them, getting outjumped and outmanoevred, and often the wrong side of the man he was marking!

Also, when England got knocked out by Croatia at Wembley, they got a LOT of space down his flank when scoring 3 goals at ours.

Yeah, give Micah Richards the trophy, now :lolol:

England are a complete waste of time. If Capello can make a winning team out the current crop of muppets, clowns and generally overpaid prima donnas then he is a miracle worker.

If he can find an ounce of imagination or artistry in that squad of blood and thunder ( aka 'english spirit') merchants then good luck to him.

Yep he was shocking yesterday but the award was for performances last year with England not for who played well against Arsenal yesterday. I also agree he had a shocker against Croatia but so did every other player in an England shirt that night so was not exactly on his own in that department

IMO MR along with Cole were the 2 best players for England last year by a long stretch and the team would be poorer without them both in it
