But we did announce his signing the day before the 16-17 Bundesliga season finished so technically he was a Bundesliga player when everything was agreed, even if Ingolstadt's relegation was already confirmed.

Not to mention he was clearly the best German transfer in Premier League history regardless of which division we plucked him from.
